Nations League 2026/27: format, calendar and standings
Fourteen groups in four leagues, six matchdays in the autumn of 2026, quarter-finals and play-offs in March 2027 and the Finals in June 2027.
The format of the 2026/27 edition
54 teams take part, arranged in four leagues according to the results of the previous edition: League A with 16 teams, League B with 16, League C with 16 and League D with 6. Leagues A, B and C have four groups of four, League D has the remaining teams. Every team plays its group opponents home and away — six matchdays for a group of four between September and November 2026.
What the zones mean
Each group table on this site is marked with the zones of the edition:
League A: the top two of each group go to the quarter-finals in March 2027; the winners of the four ties play the Finals. Third-placed teams go to play-offs against the runners-up of League B; the bottom teams are relegated to League B.
League B: group winners are promoted to League A, runners-up play the promotion play-offs, third-placed teams play the relegation play-offs against League C, and the bottom teams go down.
League C: group winners go up to League B; other positions can lead to play-offs, and the lowest-ranked teams meet League D sides.
League D: the best teams move up to League C, directly or through play-offs.
The exact zone of every team is shown in the tables below, taken from the app data after each matchday.

Why every point counts
League positions decide the seeding pots of the next qualifying draws, and the Nations League has repeatedly offered a second route to the major tournaments through play-offs. A promotion or relegation also determines the level of opponents for the next two years. The prediction game for the remaining matchdays is open for every fixture below, and the November window is also gameweek 1 of the Nations League fantasy season.
